Default What year is this car?

Screenshot 2022-03-26 184200.jpg]The ad states this is a '59 Galaxie. Mine and others I have seen have a flat rear glass. This one is curved. If it is a '59 Galaxie I can use the windshield

It's a '59 Ford, but not a Galaxie. More like a cheap Fairlane?

How would I know if the windshield would fit my '59 Galaxie 4 door hardtop? It looks the same but could be slightly different.

This car is a 1959 Ford Custom 300 Tudor Sedan.
The Windscreen should fit your Galaxie, as long as it is not a Convertible

Mystery solved ! Thanks for the information and pictures. There's one about 4 hours away with a good windshield that I need. I'll have to take plenty of pictures and measurements of mine to compare with that one.

Metro, 1959 two door ht. and four door ht. both had the flat rear glass.
The 1959 two and four door sedans had the curved rear glass.

As others have said, the windshields should be the same.

you should Call a glass company, and ask them, just to be sure.

For your door glass, if you want used glass, then find a '59 4 dr. ht.

To be precise, only the 1959 Ford Galaxie had that nearly flat rear windows. The Custom and Fairlane models all had the wrap around at both ends on the Sedans and Hardtops.

1959 Ford Galaxie:- Cover of the Original Sales Brochure, showing the new Roof Line and the revised rear Window
This rear Window was unique to the 1959 Ford Galaxie.

Thanks for clearing that up Trev, just the Galaxie had the flat rear glass.

A friend that has passed bought a new 59 Galaxie 500 Sunliner, I seem to recall pictures of it in the snow, he ordered it with 352 4v 3 speed and overdrive with traction lok rear. He owned it less than a year. I sure wish he was still around to ask him when it was ordered and delivered.

That is body style 64F. Auto City Classic is a good place to start, look for the OG part number, this one is W571. It makes it easier to shop for. I got mine from Sanderson Repro Glass, they had the best shipping at the time.

Here is a picture of a very nice 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Club Victoria. Note that the rear window is curved around the ends. Only the 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie got the nearly flat rear window, similar to the same year Ford Thunderbirds.

Post Re: What year is this car?

- HISTORY of 1959 FORD GALAXIE -

1959 GALAXIE SERIES -

Initially, the FAIRLANE SERIES was the top-of-the-line 1959 FORD. But shortly after new model introductions in late 1958, the GALAXIE lineup was introduced offering the same two- and four-door sedans and hardtops as appeared in the FAIRLANE 500 SERIES, plus it absorbed the SUNLINER and SKYLINER models. So, while confusing, the GALAXIE became the new top-line series for 1959. The only difference between the GALAXIE and FAIRLANE 500 was the styling of the top. GALAXIES used the standard top with a THUNDERBIRD style 'C-PILLAR'.

My 1959 Galaxie is a 54A body. I called Sanders Repo Glass today and they said they did not have that number listed for a Ford even though it is on their website for a "Fordor Crown Sedan". They could not confirm the windshield in the Custom 300 Tudor Sedan which is a 64F would fit the Galaxie. Has anyone successfully used another windshield in a '59 Galaxie?
