Default Rear Window Installation

I am trying to install the rear window in my 48. I was told to put the stainless trim on before putting the window in the body. Can not get both the glass and trim to stay in the rubber. Get one in and the other comes out. Is there a secret to this? Tempted to try to put the stainless on after the window is installed but if this is wrong I have ruined the rubber. I was told rear trim definitely goes on before and windshield goes on after. Is this correct?

The stainless trim goes on AFTER the window and gasket is in place. Lubricate the groove with a dish soap (we use Ivory), and beginning at one end of the trim, work the trim into place as you go. Have someone hold the free end so you don't kink it, and to hold the other end in place until you get the clip in place between the ends. If the ruber gasket is hard, spring for a new, more pliable one. Be advised that the seals are different for coupes and sedan, and for cars with and without the trim. You find the trim in the C&G catalog.

That's exactly how I installed both F & R glass. Make sure S.S. is very clean and smooth before installation.

Thanks again. Had a glass man over yesterday. Passed on your advice and he agreed. Both windows were in within the hour. Coming back tomorrow or early next week to install the trim as he did not a tool with him.

I talked a auto glass place today. They said i need glass bedding and glazing. I got a tube. 16$. Me and the Mrs put it in. I have Ford book that said use gas too clean off the excess. That worked better than anything else I tried.
