Default 1936 Ford Hubs on 1935 Spindles??

I just noticed that my 36 coupe had a 35 front end assembly under it. Does the change in spindle taper length cause a problem with mounting the 36 hubs? Also any comment on the steering problem with the revised spindle arm length.

When the hub dimensions were changed the spindle dimensions were also changed, so I would say that each years hubs and spindles have to be matched. In addition, the dimensions of the right spindle arm connections to the tie rod and drag link were also changed from '35 to '36.

People have been putting later hubs on earlier spindles for ages. Use the earlier tall nut and maybe an extra washer or the later short nut with several washers. Might need the taller dust caps too.

I don't know how much difference the longer steering makes; but can't imagine it would be a huge amount.

On the other hand; '36 spindles are not a hot commodity and if you need to replace the kingpins anyway it would be a good time to change the '35 spindles out.

Thanks to all for the information. It had 36 wheels on it but the spindles were definitely 35. I don't know if it was on the road in that configuration.
