Default Jumps and jerks in 1st and 2nd Part IIA

A few months ago I posted a thread with the above title. I got several replys and I thank each one that took the time to try to help me. I thought daveymc29 was off base but he was close to the problem. I have a long fulton gas pedal on my car. It rests on top of the original gas pedal. My problem wound up to be the lack of grease on the original pedal. The friction was not allowing the gas pedal to move down freely. I am 86 years old and have driven my car over 60,000 miles in the last 20 years. So part of my problem may have been age related. Thanks to all who tried to help me with the limited information I was able to provide. I am looking forward to several model A trips this summer. Happy driving to all. Wayne

I had a similar issue when I first got my 30 coupe. I also have the fulton gas pedal, which rests against the linkage where the original pedal was attached. I got a 1/4"" vinyl acorn nut that sits atop the rod and slides smooth as silk against the pedal. Easy $0.03 fix.

That sounds like a good solution. My mechanic put a U shaped piece of medal that has been tapped and threaded to fit the top of the accelerator and at the top he put about a two inch roller for the pedal to rest on. Works pretty well. Also, I do know how to spell replies

thankyou for your reply. I have felt almost overwhelmed with all of the replies I have had. I have glean some very useful info. being 86 means you were just out of nappies when the car was built. that's great. you must have had some good times having driven 60,000 miles in it. cheers, gary
