According to The 1941-1948 Ford Book by Ken Brown on page 5-5, the air cleaner maintenance decal goes on the passenger or right side of my '47.

For '41 and '42 cars, it goes on the drivers' or right side. Seems to me that's the side where the decal is most noticed since is on the same side as the dip stick and the oil filter.

This is not a question of monumental importance compared with most of the issues guys are dealing with here, but I'm curious as to why Ford would would have made this change for post-war production?

Left side?

I was told that the location of the decal was determined by how many drinks the person who put them on had before coming to work that day.

This is according to the 1941-1948 V-8 Ford Book, put out by the V-8 Club. "Maintenance decals belong on the left (driver) side on 1941 and 1942 cars and on the right (passenger) side of the case on 1946-47 and 48 cars".
