Default Brake Shoe Roller Pins

Doing a complete brake job and would like to know if brake shoe roller pins are supposed to rotate on the roller track as the brake lever is activated. Mine don't rotate but the brake shoe rollers do roll. I just read in Bratton's catalog that the roller pins ride on the roller track and the pin should fit firm in the shoe, not loose. Any thoughts?

The pins do not rotate, and therefore it does seem they'd last a lot longer if the had a flat surface to ride on the tracks. Flathead Ted makes a square head adjustable pin. I like to lube all moving parts and would use a high temp grease on the tracks and rollers.

Thanks so much Tom. Now I understand and with Ted's pins it makes sense to use the lining centering tool as you have a way to adjust to center if nessary. I will buy both. Should be an interesting test and fix if necessary. Good brakes are so important that a few extra bucks is well worth the added safety and even ware on the linings.
