Tire Gauge Rebuild
Bought this one the other day. Looks good but doesn't work though, so I would like to rebuild it.
Q1 : Has anyone got photos of the internal workings so that I know what to expect when opening it, and has anyone got tips or instructions for the rebuild? Q2 : How does the pointer come off ? Pulled out from the front of the dial face? Q3 : Has anyone got exact details of the original leather pouch that came with the gauge? (Measurements, leather thickness, quality and color) - Or better -has got an original pouch for sale? |

the needle (pointer) should pop off but could be tight. I use a set of mini pry bars that I use in my clock repairs |

Re: Tire Gauge Rebuild
How does the bezel come off? I have a similar old US Gauge Co, gauge that I can't get apart.

Re: Tire Gauge Rebuild
Watched the video, the bezel on my gauge doesn't doesn't come off like that, I suspect that it's threaded on. you can see the edge of it in eystein's second picture.

Re: Tire Gauge Rebuild
Got the bezel off by prying with a trim knife and two mini-screwdrivers. -the bezel is not threaded, it snaps off. Very helpful to have the gauge securely fixed when doing this. Made a fixture for that. Now I am working to try to get off the pointer. I have been told that it is pulled off, but i’ve put a lot of force to the pointer without it budging, so I am considering if more force can be applied. After that there are the problems of removing the stem and the small bezel at the interface to the tyre valve stem(in order to renew the gasket there.

Re: Tire Gauge Rebuild
This was my father's tire guage that he jept in his Model A. It was in its original pouch that was disintegrating. The guage did not work but he left it in his Town Sedan because it was there when he bought the car. Dad passed away last year and I wanted to keep his guage for my 31 pickup that he gave me years ago. The guage was missing a washer that makes contact with the valve stem. I took a washer out of a cheap tire guage and it works like new. I got lucky. Dad liked Crown Royal and this little bag kept showing up in his garage as if he was telling me, use this bag.

Re: Tire Gauge Rebuild
I used a small, skinny screwdriver and pried it out of the other guage and then pushed it into the model A guage. I used the tip of the blade to set it in place.
