Default 36 pick up running boards?

Any suggestions on how to protect the paint on pickup running boards from shoe damage? I don't think there was any rubber step mat, like there is on a sedan.

I keep mine waxed to prevent too much scuffing but being careful helps. If you're really worried you might want to try some sort of protective film you can remove and replace as needed. Here something I seen on Amazon worth looking at maybe.

Pat thanks for the suggestion. I use clear Poly tape (clear gorilla tape) on my SUP to protect the rails. I will try it, after I touch up the damaged paint.
