wheel buddies
does anyone know who might be making or selling "wheel buddies" as listed at Snyders but currently unavailable. They consist of 2 long attachments (maybe 6 inches or so) that screw onto a couple of wheel studs and allow you to guide the wheel on more easily and eliminate some of the struggle as you get older. Looks like a good idea to me especially when mounting 16 inch wheels which can be a little hard to align.

Re: wheel buddies
Someone posted a tip recently: if you have a traditional X-shaped lug wrench, you put the wrench on the floor with two legs under the hub and two legs toward you. You put the wheel between the legs, close to the center, and then you lift up on the end of the wrench, which acts like a lever to lift the wheel into position. Haven’t tried it, but it sounds plausible.

Re: wheel buddies
I make sure ONE stud is at the top, and match the wheel to it. the tire is only 1" above the ground when I remove it or install it. Not much lifting there. I'm 61 and disabled and have no issues doing it this way. Trying to align two studs on the top, ... fuggedaboutit.

Re: wheel buddies
Or use your brake board to set the front brakes. That helps me mount the front tires. I don't use my brake board to adjust them but it really works well to simply set them when I want to put the fronts on.

Re: wheel buddies
Or you can sit on a milk crate using your feet as wedges to lift the wheels, that leaves both hands free to push the wheel over the lugs. We old people should be glad A’s don’t use bolts to attach the wheels

Re: wheel buddies
A good ole fashioned shovel used as a lever always works for me…

Re: wheel buddies
Yep, shovel. Shove the blade under the tyre as far as it will go and push down on the handle to lift.

Re: wheel buddies
Fill those tires with Helium and they will be a lot easier to lift for mounting, and will give you 10% better gas milage due to less weight!
