Default Carburetor gas leak

I recently rebuilt my Zenith1 carburetor with a kit from Snyder’s. After the rebuild I experienced the proverbial gas leaking problem. Everything pointed to the new float valve, from China, not sealing properly. There is much in the forums about the poor quality of new float valves. However, after a long chase down the wrong road I determined the leak was from the gasket/washers under the float valve not sealing. BEWARE - The new washers in the kits are hard as a rock and leak. I temporarily solved the problem by coating the 2 gaskets (I needed 2 to properly set the float height) with Permatex gas resistant “Permashield”. I can only hope I will not need to adjust the float height as it will not be a fun job.
