JSeery you are right. Took the resistor out of circuit and it starts fine. Took her for a 15 mile test drive and did great except for running out of gas. Got to fix that fuel gauge.

I think you need to replace that resister so you don’t burn your points. Unless you have replaced your coil with one that does not require the use of a resistor. 1.5ohm. This is true with 12v not sure if it applies here with 6any volts

Forget the resistor. Get a coil with 1.5 ohms primary resistance. Ford went to this kind of coil in 1949, eliminating a resistor in the circuit. By the way, a 12v coil would be 3.5 ohms resistance.

The coil has been replaced with a replacement for a 1949 Ford. That may have been when trouble started.
