1933 ford glove box door
Hi folks. Hope this finds all of you enjoying a great Thanksgiving holiday. Wonder if someone might be able to answer a few questions on this item. I pulled it from a 33 dash. I take it that the hole is for a clock. Is this a fairly common item as I haven't seen any examples in what limited publications I have. Thanks for the help.

Here are some images showing the 40-18540 accessory glove box clock. This was a spring wound clock.

Re: 1933 ford glove box door
What you have is a non-Ford accessory. It was an engine turned panels that looked similar to the engine turned instrument panel on a 33 Ford. It used a New Haven clock or you might call it a watch. The problem on restoring one of these the raised edge on the sides gets in the way when you try to engine turned the panel. My thoughts are that originally when the unit was made the flat panel was completely engine turned then the edge was pressed up. That edge was then polished without touching the engine turning. I have never seen a real good one but I have had several that are fair. I've also seen the original Ford watch used in one. But it would take a special thick adapter on the back of the clock. The original clock door that is shown in the previous pictures is thicker than the thin 33 panel. Hope this helps
