1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
As 1929 was the largest production year, and the Tudor easily the most popular (that most folk could afford anyway) model, my question is - how many 'Barners' own 1929 Tudors? I will make it ONE. Please, if you own one, add yours to the total and post it. Should be interesting....
Thanks! |

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
I purchased my 29 late Sept 2017. Frame off restoration done in the mid 90s. PO put less than 500 miles on it. Besides two front seats, never installed an interior. Decent runner on rebuilt inserted engine, but left lots to do. No light switch or any other wiring, no shocks, etc. Still not finished, but I'm getting there.

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
We have two 1929 Tudors. We had a third tudor that I shortened up and put the back wall of a pickup onto it, now it is just a pickup and lives out in the snow.

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
My only Model A, a 1929 Tudor. The body style and year I was looking for patiently waited for me in a carport for 36 years. It has a 1-4-1929 matching engine to chassis, 1-21-29 gas tank, with a 2-29 assembly date on the subframe. Single headlight and fluted lens.

I'm new to model A's ... bought my '29 Tudor this past November. Completely restored but not by me, of course. Pretty much laid up for the winter. Can't wait for Spring.

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
One was originally sold in Australia in 1929, which I believe is a Canadian body. From what I've read, the Tudors sold in Australia were all imported from Canada, and it was the open cars, commercial bodies and some coach works bodies that were Australian made, The other came from Argentina, which I believe is also a Canadian body.

Had one for 20 years, a friend has it now,,, was a great Model A. Date code was 1-17-29 and the motor was built the first week of January, 1929. Was a Chicago Assy. build as I recall.

Another 29 Tudor (although its somewhat weird). Matching OCT 1929 engine and frame serial number but with original color scheme and electric wipers that were supposedly discontinued in July 1929.

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
There are two of our club members who have them who are not internet folks and so theirs are not being counted here. So, if that's the case for my somewhat small town (say 40k or so), then there must still be a whopping number of them "out there".

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
Officially, we are up to 36. Perhaps a Fordor owner would like to get a thread going to challenge that number? I'd even allow for like-year grouping, say 28/29 or 30/31..... Any four-door, regardless of 'style'. I suspect 36 will be hard to beat. Any takers?

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
Even though considered "common", I think the Tudor is a CLASS CAR! Easy to get into, easily modified front seats, IF, more room is needed, & stowage room under the front seats.
As a kid, we had a spiffy, all BLACK, '29 Tudor, for MANY YEARS, "toured" EVERYWHERE, at a time when most Folks just went to town & drove short visiting runs. With just Bulger, my Dog, & I, in the back seat, I'd tell Chief, "These LOOOONG side windows are our WINDOWS TO THE WORLD"!! I never remember ever having "on the road" breakdowns, Chief knew how to make cars run VERY DEPENDABLY! IF, I ever get another Model A, it'll be a TUDOR! Bill Traveler

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
Tudors have WAAAAAY more comfort than most Model As. '28 & '29 pickups are the most RE-SOLD ones, cuz you have to be a MIDGET, to drive one. Friend, Ted, built a FINE one, even with A/C, after he & Naomi did 3 short runs, he SOLD it!!
I wanted a pickup, BAD, but couldn't even fit in a '30-'31. (I wear FULL leg braces) Bill Sadsack

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
Ford phased out the multidisc in Europe by continuing to fit them to the shall bore 14.9 HP AF engine .The big bore 24 HP engine had the new single disc clutch .So you can have the multidisc clutch in a 29 car in France,it would have started life as an AF car .My son has a 29 tudor in from Denmark many years ago

Re: 1929 Tudor 'Barner' count....
In the case of my two early 1928 model A's, the Tudor is Canadian built with the 3.3 litre engine and the Roadster was US built with the same engine. Both have multi-disc clutches and both work really well.
