Default Event Coverage : Hot August Nights or Checking Another One Off My Bucket List!

Hello Everyone,
I was in Reno for 6 days & the Hot August Nights Show was amazing! It had been on my bucket list for years, so when a gentleman who owns an OT vehicle that had been invited to participate in the prestigious Hot August Nights Cup competition against 39 others inside the Reno Ballroom contracted me to transport his vehicle out & back, I jumped at the chance. His car won overall Best of Show @ Detroit this year & in 2016 won GMs Best of Design @ SEMA. As a transporter, this is another feather in my cap to be trusted transporting something this special back & forth.

There was no less than 6 outside "Show & Shines" going on at different casinos every day. Each one had between 400 & 1000 cars, so lots of walking & gauking! I managed to get to 4 of them. The downtown Reno one was closest to my hotel, so I went to that one every day. The night time cruises under the arch were also great.

I took a bunch of pictures & will post a few that will fit in this section. I hope you all enjoy them, the Ford family from this era was well represented.

I plan on taking one of my cars out for a future show. I had an absolute blast! I recommend this show to any of my fellow car guys!!!!!

God Bless
Bill Squires(owner)

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'm sure you had a great time. It makes you wonder where that many old cars come from. There must be one or more behind every closed garage door.

Went there back in 2013 as part of a trip from NJ to San Jose. On the way back we went to Reno for Hot August Night.

Had a great time on the trip and Reno was super.

Those are some great looking cars.My wife was hoping that I would have my 55 ford station wagon this year ready for the hot august nights in Reno but did not make it cause of the over heating problem.I sure hope we can make it next year.I have heard some great things about that show so would be really nice to be able to go over there.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Thanks for the photos. Friends have gone, but I’m also a fan of the September air races, and so I’ve never been able to make both. Maybe I need to change my priorities.

was there in 2015 and this past month. Had a blast. I had a couple of car friends join me while I was down there and both agree that this was so much fun that both are planning attending next year.

Vic
Vic,

I was at the Sands Regency Resort Casino which worked well because it was within walking distance from downtown Reno. I walked 4-5 miles per day just doing the show & shines. The car I transported was on display in the Reno Ballroom & the downtown show & shine was right outside.

God Bless
Bill
