Default 1951 F3 wired negative ground

I have a 239 with 6 volt generator, regulator etc. that came wired negative ground. Everything works but the battery terminal connections are corroding away fast. Can I just switch this to pos. ground? Repolarize the generator?

It could be connected pos or neg ground IF things are changed to account for it. Coil would be one issue and if it has already been wired one way may require a replacement coil. As you said, generator is another. Amp meter, etc. I doubt the corrosion at the battery terminals is related to polarity, more likely acid vapors off the battery. What type of battery is it? Might be easier to change the battery to a sealed one, if the current battery is the sealed type, it must be venting gas somewhere.
