Default 28 AR rear bumpers

The front bumper on my 28 Ar sport coupe does not have end bolts. I understand that this is correct for an AR. The rear bumper does have end bolts. My rear bumper needs to be rechromed but if they are not correct I want to find a pair of correct bumpers. Anyone know?

Check to determine the length of the bumpers. If they are 60", they are Model T and not correct for your car. This was a common mistake made by many owners of early cars that thought they should be open end. There are two different versions of open end early rear bumperettes. These are almost impossible to find now and have to made from closed end units.

Also, I've seen dated photos from Nov 1927 showing early cars with closed end bumpers. Brent is correct in asking the number. Unless you have a three digit engine, I would recommend putting closed end bumpers on the car.

Most of that is likely correct for March. Rod

Parts on the very early cars literally changed within weeks at a time. Your car falls into the "early car" Feb-June section of the JS. I had a March tudor, a very original car, that had its original closed end bumpers front and rear.

I wonder where the car was assembled? There is also a chance that the higher engine number could be a replacement motor!

Most likely you have T bumpers on your car... They only put open end bumpers on the 1st 200 cars...
