Default windlace HELP !

Working on a '30 Fodor Briggs. Am I correct in thinking that the windlace which is between the front edge of the front door and the front door frame mounts on the door and not the frame. and....the servage lies against the inside of the door and will be covered up by the door panel when it is installed and the upper part of the servage will be tucked under the metal window frame when it is reinstalled?
I have read a lot of previous posts about this and there seems to be a lot of different answers based on year and body style.....kind of confusing. My car has no "channels" for the windlace to fit into and no way to hide the servage other than what i have described above......or at least if there is i can't figure it out.

Input appreciated.

That is correct, it tacks on under the trim panel.
