Fordoor to Tudor
I am looking at what is supposed to be a 29 Tudor but I have now been told by one of my colleagues that it was converted from a fordor and that I should not buy it. Take a look at some pictures.

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
I think somebody is pulling your leg. Maybe they want to buy it for themselves?
Of course I suppose it could have had the whole body changed. Last edited by oldforder; 05-23-2019 at 11:16 AM. |

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
That's a Tudor, the Fordor has the gas tank under the cowl.

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
So there is a general consensus that the car is and always has been a tudor?

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
another vote that it is, in fact, a Tudor.
Fordor would have wooden sills, etc. Nothwithstanding that, it just appears to be a tudor. Would be very interesting to hear your bud's rendition of why he thinks its modified. |

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
Thanks everybody. I like the car a lot and wanted to see what others said. I have to ask him why he said its a fordor.

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
The only Fordor that had any resemblance to a Tudor [ mostly steel construction; coupe pillar & gas tank; same type door swaging etc] was the Taxi sedan. If you found one of those, buy it! I would love to hear how your friend justifies it once being a fordor!

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
All good points above but I'm surprised no one has stated the obvious thing. The upper body mouldings on all Fordors were night & day different than the 55A mouldings. Unless someone went to a boatload of trouble shrinking out the double crowns in the body moulding to resemble the flat Tudor style, its a no-brainer to speculate its origin even without checking the sills or infrastructure.

If you like it and agree on a price, buy it.

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
Thanks for the input everybody. I am gonna talk to him today.
There are two extra holes in the firewall which I think are for some kind of heater, though I haven't seen one like it.

Re: Fordoor to Tudor
Turns out his vague text message was to get a Fordor, not that it was a Fordor.
