Drake fuel tanks
Bob’s latest mini catalog features gas tanks. It lists 81A-9002 tank with non-threaded, integral neck for late 37 & 38-40. Has anyone successfully installed this tank, the req’d connecting hose & filler tube in a 37 Ford? If yes, please advise of any installation problems, including lining up filler tube in fender hole. Many thanks.

Re: Drake fuel tanks
My two 37's both have necks that are slanted forward. I have a couple of 38 tanks in the shop that both have necks coming straight out of the tank. That could be a big problem on a 37. I once used a straignt out 38 tank on a 37 and bent the neck while the tank was bolted to a frame. Then had to soldier up a tear but in the end, it worked fine with that change.

Re: Drake fuel tanks
'37,
I have a Drake tank in my '41 1/2 ton....I know this is off topic a bit.....but it is too wide to drop out if need be. I installed the tank with the bed off and now it's there. Check that wrinkle too. Drakes ' boy ' said my frame must be bent....I just gave up. Charlie ny |
