Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
yeh but the drop in the rear denotes crank driven fan and at that age i would probably would have needed repairs as well

1939 Deluxe, or 1939 Mercury (or early 1940). Note the lack of cutouts for the front anti sway bar of 1940.

Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
Thanks to those that replied to my question. I have passed on the replies to the owners who own a 1939 Ford Deluxe Fordor, among other Early Fords. Regards Mercman <><

Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
Here's one that looks the same. It lacks the cut outs for the 40 Ford sway bar.

1939 Ford Under Radiator Splash Pan. This is the one that 19Fordy posted a Link for. Notice, it has the correct holes which the one I posted pictures of lack. |

Comparison shot of the original "repaired" Radiator Splash Pan and the New one. The end tabs are different between these two Pans. |

Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
Trevor
I will try and remove mine from the Mercury tonight for you BUT my time is very limited the last few days with word and with impending surgery.......BUT I am about 90% positive that this pan is for a 39 mercury, the BIG perfectly round drain hole in the center and that indented area around and leading to it "I believe" is exactly what I have on mine.......It is hard to get photos of it on the car and not being able to get a wide enough view of it Unless I put it up on the rack but then you only get the one side of it!!!!! AND again, we have established that the two outer mounting flanges have been cut as there "should" be two mounting holes on the outboard flanges as well |

Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
It's 39 Mercury with the flanges cut. Here is the one on my Mercury for now!!! Sorry my IPhone turns the picture but the side shots are the left side. Although just noticed mine shows an extra round hole, I would assume based on location for a drain hose along side of the radiator from the filler neck??

Re: Mystery Splash Pan - What is it off?
This is the splash pan from a 1941 ford 6 cylinder pickup truck...It was only used on the 6 cylinder commercial models such as 1/2 ton pickup and the 1/2 ton panel truck...These trucks had the 1940 standard grille just like the 1940 standard cars...In 1941 when ford offered the 6 cylinder motor they had to re-engineer the front sheet metal to accommodate the longer motor by adding extensions onto the front frame and slimming down the radiator so that it would fit...That is why this splash pan only fit the 6 cylinder models...I have two of these trucks!
