Hub puller question
Bought this hub puller at Hershey - it has the raised letters "Ford AB Pat no. 1867211 " on it . I have searched the A and T forums as well as the web finding only 1 photo of a similar one which suggested it was for a T.
Does anyone know what this one is or made for ? It does fit the A rear hub . Thank you John Last edited by john_gto; 10-14-2019 at 12:36 PM. |

Re: Hub puller question
The patent number you posted doesn't correspond to any similar device, but if at least the first 4 digits are correct, that would mean this device was patented around 1928-1930 – suggesting it's meant for a Model A.

Re: Hub puller question
I believe it will work on the '26-'27 Model T wire wheel hubs and on the early Model A hubs with the raised ribs.

Re: Hub puller question
Thanks for the comments so far - the patent numbers are difficult to read - the 8 could be a 3 and the last two 11 could be 77. I checked on a spare axle and hub and the thick lip at the bottom does fit nicely in the A hub groove. Trying to determine if it was made to be used on model A before using it on our 31 SWTS

Re: Hub puller question
Those numbers didn't turn up anything. You can run the search yourself here, just enter the number with a 0 in front of it ("01867211"):

Re: Hub puller question
The "Ford AB" lettering must mean "works with the Ford Model A or B." The B would have been out at the time the puller was manufactured.

Re: Hub puller question
That is likely so - Dan's puller has "Ford A" and "Pat Pend" from what I can see.
Thanks again everyone for your help! John |
