Happy anniversary.

Never throttle back! It keeps you going. I think you need something in a pre-war V8 Ford coupe.

Enjoy your day and congratulations to both of you.

P.S. I was 3 years old when you got married.

Guys,
Thanks, as we get older the support of friends and family is VERY much appreciated!
We had a good day as Cheryl, her sister Martha, and our son Adam worked on getting maple syrup candy, maple coated peanuts and maple coated popcorn, ready for an event on Wednesday Dec 13, at the shop I worked at for 36 years. Also will have our monthly AACA meeting Wednesday evening, will be jammed packed with things to keep us old folks off the streets!

Seth, the guy that owns the 65 Comet sold his original 40 Ford coupe the day I stopped to look at the Comet. A Very nice car for sure. I have always liked those also. We almost bought one 45 years ago.
Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

Ford Folks,
When John stopped over for our therapy session, I had a package of maple syrup going to Texas. So we jumped in the 32 and headed into town to mail it.

As we were setting at the post office I dialed back the trip meter to zero, and noted that Cheryl and I drove the ragged ol truck just over 1000 miles this year! Original miles were 65427 when we found this truck in Conneaut Lake PA.

Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

Chris,Cheryl, 1st Happy Anniversary, 2nd, I just completed reading this epic 2 year adventure...thanks for a good read! I enjoyed visiting with you these past couple of weeks..Thanks for your documentation and photos, I learned a good deal about the cars and trucks I loved as a kid(A's and 32's) A year ago, I was lucky enough to buy my friends Dads high school grad present, a 40 Ford Coupe that I have to put back together. So, Ill be here on the Barn poking around. I love your truck, glad you went for preservation and driver, rather than show queen.. Cheers!

Pete

Pete,
Welcome to the Ford Barn! Thanks for the support and kind words! The content I try to add keeps my fire going on these types of projects!

A 40 Ford coupe is just about my favorite, but I have never driven one! I hope I can learn a lot from you, on your car. So many fine folks on here to help you along the way too! Are you planning to come to a Early V8 nationals meet soon? Even if your car is not done, I would recommend it!

So the weather has been just awesome, for December, in our neck of the woods. So Adam (son) wanted to take the 32 for a ride. He is familiar with a 4 speed but the non syncro tranny was a little bit of a challenge. But near the end of the ride he was even down shifting at the corners!

Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

Chris,
No grand plans for any national meets at the moment. I have a firewall and floor to replace, as well as some mechanical work, and all the wiring. Driving, period, is a pretty big goal at the moment. Luckily, here in Arizona, we dont deal with 'winter' in the normal sense, so work continues..

Pete,
Sounds like you're only days away from a run down the road in the 40! Start a thread on your project and be sure to put in lots of pictures for us too! We love pictures!

Chris and Cheryl

Ford Folks,
We soon approach the New Year! Wishing you the best with family and Fords next year!
Most folks have their cars and trucks put away till next spring. But a warm, dry, day here could allow us to throw open the shop doors and move the ragged ol' truck out into the sun for a short drive!

Today we had a visit from the previous owner of the 32 along with his son. Larry and Evan had a good time going around the truck and finding things that had been improved since the last visit. They approved!

On a non 32 to 53 Ford note:
Cheryl has nodded approval for to purchase an additional antique car to our fleet. The red 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente should be home in January. Looking forward to meeting some new folks with the newer Merc, traveling to some car shows, cruise in's, visiting with folks, and getting ice cream on a nice days in the summer. (I will be still here for updates on the 32 truck, and it will still be out and about also.) "Crazy bout a Mercury!" Alan Jackson

Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

I have a soft spot for 1965 Comets. Photo of the 65 Mercury Cyclone I had when Cathy and I got married almost 43 years ago. Bought it from the original owner in Newport, TN the summer of 1980. 289 4bl with a 4 speed. Had the rally pack. I told Chris he wouldn't like the 32 less if he bought the Caliente. They are like your kids, you love them all but for different reasons.

David, Folks
Yes that is the unit! (little red')

The previous owner of the 32 and is son looked under the truck to see the original muffler! They gave a big thumbs up to being more original!

Happy New Year to the Ford Barn family!

Looking forward to Auburn National meet 2024!

Regards,
Chris and Cheryl

I'm looking forward to seeing your truck, and many other great Fords, at the Auburn meet. Conveniently the organizers of that event scheduled it so that one of the days is Juneteenth. Now I only need to take 4 vacation days from work to attend instead of 5!

Folks,
That is a nice Cyclone John had! I like the chrome reverse look hubcaps! I have a lot to learn on the 65 Merc.

Back on the 32: I ordered a radiator cap as mentioned in another thread. It is for a 33 or 34. It fits but looks a little out of place with the nice shiny chrome finish. The original is tucked away.

Chris and Cheryl

Chris, For my pickup, I had a WWII NOS unplated version of the '33 cap painted to match the rest of the golden orange paint on it when the '32 cap is stowed away. Great minds.................

A bit of swimming pool acid will age the cap but don't do it in the shop. The fumes from an open container will start to rust everything in the shop.

Guys,
Thanks! I almost took a grinder to the nice chrome 33 radiator cap today. But was distracted and figured that I could mess it up another day. So it went back on!
Had a visit from John and Cathy today at the shop and enjoyed the time with them and family. We went to our daughters house for sauerkraut and sausage dinner! Yumm!
Looking forward to 2024. It has been 10 years today, since I retired! Never looked back and we have been busier than ever!
Hope things are good in Ford Land!
Regards,
Chris and Cheryl
