38 steering box disassembly
Is a pile of roller bearings falling out usual? Do these usually need replacing?

No. The needle bearings are inside a cage. It looks like you will need to find a new set of bearings. Note these bearings are 36 Ford ONLY> Most have sleeve bearings and could be used instead of roller bearings.

I bought the column on the left from a forum member who said it was a 38. It has 3 sets of needle bearing for the sector shaft. I just bought a NOS sector from a forum member for a 37. The one on the right was in my 36 when I got it. Apparently the needle bearings from a 36 work for a 38 box? Better? |

You should know that when you put a NOS sector in, you need to put in a NOS worm as well...Matt in Alameda
