Here are photos of plain steel, magnetic, painted cowl lights. Identical to stainless, but for the magnetic steel and paint. ?????

Thanks for posting. That is something I have never seen before. Any idea of their intended use?

Re: Photos of plain steel, magnetic, painted cowl lights
Charlie, Don't know anything about them, except they are exact duplicates of the stainless issued ones. Given that Ford put painted radiator shells, painted cowl bands, and painted headlight buckets on standard commercial vehicles, why not the same treatment for commercial cowl lights???? They look very correct as apposed to all stainless cowl lights. I have 5 of these, not just an odd one-off. Thanks for the reply.

I think they would look great on a car. Very nice.
Enjoy. |

They would look right at home on a truck! Possibly aftermarket for business owners?

I like them. My all black '31 CCPU has stainless cowl lamps. But those would look much better on it.

Your cowl light arms are for the 30-31 if that is any help.

Interesting....first I have heard of the 28-29 cowl light shape in plain steel. Your lights should be a little larger in diameter than the 30-31 buckets. These are 4" OD. Thanks

The parts book shows black enamel cowl light for 1932. I wonder if the
buckets would fit 1930-31 arms? |

Re: Photos of plain steel, magnetic, painted cowl lights
Bob, interesting info. The December 20, 1932 parts book, 1928-1932, not only lists enameled lights(B-13302,3-B) but enameled brackets(arms) B-13322-B. I believe the '32 arms are short and attach to the side of the bucket. If the 3 screw holes are the same as the A arms, and you turn the lens 90 degrees, maybe......? Know anyone with Model B and A cowl lights? Thanks

Could be for a taxi cab or some commercials with painted headlamps?

Noticing the Guam in your user name, and if you are in Guam, could they have been for the export market and not sold in the USA?

My dad was a Seabee on Guam in 1950, when I became more than just a glint in his eye!
