Default Clutch spring thrust ring?

I suffer from short memory and can not find any good pictures ot this. How is the thrust ring supposed to be located inside the clutch spring/support?
The mtfca transmission booklet say "with the notched end down". But the figure 2 on side 10 seems to show it the other way..
Which way is right?

Think that clutch spring thrust ring (#3343) is only used on the very early Fords, the March 1920 Parts and Price lists don't have it listed.

Guess you test fit to see how the pin locks in with the support.

All the T tranny I have done use only the Clutch Spring support (3341) and the pin (3342)

Thanks a lot tmodelman for Your mega fast reply. Now i can continue my work tonight
It looks just as good both ways, the hole in thrust ring is centered in the middle of the ring. With the ring, the spring is pressed together 1/4 more then without.
My car is assembled from different year, i assume.
