heater in a `32
I have just got my Hadees heater from under the bed and I am getting ready to mount it into my roadster and was wondering if you guys could tell me where to pick up the hot water feed and return. It has the original pump in head motor.I`m guessing that the feed needs to be pressurised ie; after the pump and the return maybe into one of the bottom hoses?Just thought I`d check before starting out and causing myself a problem..lol.

Since the pumps pull the water out of the block and push it to the radiator top tank, you are probably on the right track. I've seen fittings in the radiator hoses for inlet water and return flow but haven't installed any of these type yet.

Re: heater in a `32
Nige,
Your thought process is right for the locations. Slightly newer pumps had a drilled/tapped hole in the pump for a temperature sender and this might be a good pickup point. It would be a shame to drill/tap an original '32 pump housing. You probably already know but the 1940 Ford (and many others) used a fitting in the lower radiator hose for the water return (available as a repro) and this might be useful in your installation. I hope you can put the holes in the floorboard and not the firewall to install the heater (but we do what we must). Charlie Stephens |
