I'd like to rebuild the fuel pump on my '47. The kit's only $20 & it's a simple job except for one thing: Does anyone know how to remove the 2 valves in the upper housing? This one's really got me scratchin' my head!

I'd appreciate any help with this.

This is an after market pump not an "AC" pump. The valves are pressed in and slightly larger than stock original valves.THIS is the type of pumps that CANNOT be rebuilt.I have original "AC" pumps that i rebuild and have replaceable valves so can be done again down the road if needed.Plus i install a paper filter in the bowl. HEY GUYS, look at this pump,this type cannot be rebuilt,dont even try it. ken ct.

Those valves are pressed or staked in place and difficult to remove. Then I'm not sure how the new valves would be held in place. The FP's I rebuilt all had valves held in place by a small sheet metal part and two small screws. The ones I rebuilt are still working well.
I bought kits from MAC's that they claim were originally supplied by Joblot. Apparently the diaphragms were made of material that holds up well to this gas with alcohol.

I kind of figured it wasn't rebuildable, so I'll just have to spend the $60 on a new one.

Better to get a rebuilt one from Ken ct than a new made in CHiNA one.
Got mine 2 yrs ago, still works great. He does quality.

Hold on to your $60. Many new pumps are made far far away and have a
tendency to produce too much pressure, some as much as 7 psi. I've unwound more
than a few carburetor problems that were directly a result of too much pressure
from a shiny new pump. I'll ditto what Vic says.

Yep I know some new pumps are just fine but I also know lots are not
