47 vent window crank
I'm trying to get the vent window crank handle off so I can get the interior together. I got the screw out ready enough and tried getting a flat head screw driver in there but it's just to far on. Any ideas

Re: 47 vent window crank
Topher, I've had both of mine off. I think once the Phillips head screw is out, you just have to carefully wiggle and pry the handle until it loosens up. Could you use a little "liquid wrench" to help things along, or might that stain the door panel your trying to save?

Re: 47 vent window crank
Put a screw in that you don't mind messing up, but leave it about two turns out from tight. Get the crappiest little gear puller you can find with claws thin enough to slip between the escutcheon plate and the crank handle. Tighten the center screw of the puller down into the head of your expendable Phillips screw and then give the head of the puller a little tap with a hammer. Then tighten it some more and tap it again. That should pop it off of its shaft.
