I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
This was given to me for money owed. It is registered and drivable but my taste starts at 1966 and I would like to sell. Other than a massive cleaning... Where do I start?
Oil spot is NOT from the Model T... |

What is a good source to use when assigning a value to this vehicle? What specific pictures do you guys need to asses the originality of this vehicle? Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Turn the gas on, put the spark lever up, throttle halfway down, turn the key to BATT, and step on the starter button with your left heel. Pull the choke for two revolutions, after it starts, pull the spark down and turn the key to MAG and drive it away!
If the guy owed you $7K you did good. $5K you did real good. $3K you better put an extra $50 on the plate next sunday! ws

I agree with Bill on the prices. From the pictures it appears the truck is complete, correct, and in pretty good shape. If I had space, time, and money for another T I'd make an offer.

Steve, I thought it looked like a 26/27 car. I can not see rear end, so it could have the small pickup type bed back there.

Yep, it's a roadster/pickup (car chassis), not a TT.

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
It probably started out as a roadster & had the pickup bed installed. Note the top saddles. A RPU top does not go down. This is not a bad thing, the option to lower the top just makes it more fun.
A good picture of the "bun panel" area will confirm this.

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
This one does look to be an original Ford RPU. If you look at the 2nd to last picture with the rear 3/4 view. The filler plates between the bed and the pick up box are there. If there had been a turtle deck installed at some point there would be a punched hole in the back of the body about 2 inches down from the bottom of the top, next to the seam where the back panel and the body meet. It looks to have the correct bun panels in it, if they were the roadster ones there would be a bead running vertically right where that filler plate between the box and body ends. This looks to have the longer panels in it. Also, all roadsters have the mounting points for top saddles installed inside of the body. If they were destined to be RPU's there were simply rubber plugs placed into the holes in the body panels. Someone could have easily taken them out and put in the top saddles.

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
Jack... there two pics that show the back of the tub with the "joint" panel or cover closing the gap to the bed and body. It appears to run from the joint to the rear fender to cover that body frame rail. Isnt that indicative of a correct bun panel? At least it wasnt a cut off touring car.
I also always thought that the soft top trucks were always drop tops as well. Not so? ws

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
I think you are both correct. On close inspection you can see the bun panel in the picture below. The picture from Howell's catalog shows the rib that would be on a roadster panel. The lack of the hole near the top is conclusive as well. As I understand it the top on a RPU was not intended to be put down thus no saddles were installed.

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
My 27 Runabout's registration stated that it is a " Runabout with a Box ". So as I see it is a Runabout (car) with a Box (pickup) as noted by the rear panel between the bun panels. It has the trunk and I guess the Box got separated some how. Just my observation.
PS: When I registered it in NY they changed it to a Two Door Convertible. Go figure. |

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
This car came from the factory as a Roadster, as it clearly shows the back seat Panel.
When they came as Roadsters, they had the back panel with the embossed area on the back. as far as the holes, they would be behind the pickup bed, or they might have got filled when they painted if they were using a box. When a pickup came from the factory, the back of the seat panel was smooth, with no emboss. They never had the bolt holes. |

Re: I have a Model T 1927 Truck... Now what?
I know they sell the roadster pickup seat panel without the embossed rib and the different bun panels, but I have never seen an actual 26-7 T roadster pickup with the smooth panel. I do believe that is correct with the smooth panel but I have never seen one. Anyone have pics of one that is original?
