Re: Model T Dealers plate?
Wasn't Splitdorf a vendor that supplied vibrator coils for the really early Ts?

Re: Model T Dealers plate?
Most likely a "master" coil plate or possibly for a high tension magneto.

Re: Model T Dealers plate?
As was mentioned before, Splitdorf made electrical parts back in the Model T days. My Model T came with Splitdorf spark plugs. https://oldcroak.com/splitdorf-1/ https://wrenchwiki.com/splitdorf-spark-plug/
As to this specific plate, I cannot say. Maybe from a Splitdorf dealer's display?

Re: Model T Dealers plate?
Splitdorf made ignition components for Ford as well as others. Ford had a half dozen suppliers of components. They made some of the coils and they made some coil boxes as well as i gnitiongnition switches. Since that plate includes Model T on it as well as the Splitdorf trade name then it may have been on one of those components. As mentioned, it could have been a display plate but I don't know with any certainty what it was for. It may have been a battery box plate for all I know.
I think Splitdorf eventually became part of the Edison Company which was already a part of General Electric. They made a lot of magnetos. The Dixie 4-cylinder magneto was adapted to the Model T but it had it's own data plate. Last edited by rotorwrench; 07-14-2023 at 03:24 PM. |
