258 Hydro engine in this boat. Record 62 Miles an hour.

Very neat Ron ! When I was a kid in the mid 50s there was an old Century speed boat rotting in a feild with a 59a in it....thanks for the memories !!!!

No, Wish it waz, old age has erased his name, owner of the boat.. Built a 284 for him to reduce the engine rom , but it didn't go as fast. I think it was the prope

You are correct......the prop needs more pitch with reduced RPM.....but the motor needs more torque at the operating RPM....

Yes, thats what I figgered. The 284 put out 174 HP at 4800RPM, which was a vast improvement over the 258.
