Default brake rod question

when i attache my service brake rods on one side of my 29 should i be able to move those rods back and forth by hand fairly easy. thanks for any info. latecomer

They should move easily till the shoes make contact with the inside of the drums.
Look for signs of wear when the arms are moving.

I installed all new rods and all new brakes and all the bushings pins and clevis.
