Default engine mounts and exhaust gaskets

While I have engine unbolted and lifted to remove that pesky RHD starter motor, I plan to replace the front engine mounts. Who's mounts would you go for Drakes or Carpenters? I'm unsure if Carpenters have the metal band around the top biscuit. The ones that on the car now are English made and they have the band around it

Also the exhaust manifold gaskets ; should they be replaced dry or should exhaust sealant be used with them?

Thanks

GB

Do you mean the brown stuff in the tube ( Holts or CRC product) or the stuff in the can that is more like a putty ( gun gum I think it is called)?

Keep or re-use your bolts and castle nuts, I had 2 sets from different vendors and the threads did not match well nor was the metal very strong. I ended up re-using the original bolts and nuts.

Just a response to gasket sealer on exhaust gaskets. Not a good idea! The best sealer i have found with exhaust gaskets is "Neversieze" anti stick coating. This is great for hot exhaust as it does not burn the gasket to the metal and makes disassembly and re use very easy.

I did what Dick suggested when recently replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets on my 35 sedan. You also want to retorque those manifold bolts after you put some run time on them. I had to retorque mine twice. I didn't retorque them on the previous set and this caused them to fail early. I have used the rubber motor mount donuts from both Drake and Carpenter. I am not sure they had the steel rings on the OD, at least I don't recall them being there, but they could have had a light coating of rubber molded over them. In either case they seem to be holding up well. I also reused the original hardware after glass beading and sprying with clear coat paint.

Dick I've just googled the Neverseeze products. Can you tell me please which one it is you use. There seems to be a number of different applications.

Thanks

There is a short and long version of those engine mount stepped bolts.
Go for the longer ones.
