Default INHERITED a Model T

Howdy ~ Our dear father of 92 years has passed away & we need to eventually find a new owner to love on his Model T. My brother says it is a 1923 Roadster. It’s in really nice shape. We have been driving it in the 4th of July parade in Kalispell, Montana, for many years.

I need advice on two things please:
1. What’s the best way to find a new owner.
2. How do I locate the VIN number. I am not sure if we’ll find paperwork on the car, & I believe I may have to apply for a new title.

Maybe that’s actually 3 questions. Any insights on how I should go about getting a new title?

I believe there is a wealth of expertise on this site. Thanks for your help, in advance.

If your Father had a Wyoming registration and licence plate then a person can get a title. In most states, it takes a copy of the death certificate along with the last known registration number to get the ball rolling. If there never was a registration or tag then it may be more complicated. The engine number is on the left side of the engine but it may be a different engine from original. The late model Ts had a frame number stamped on top of the right frame rail. This is a thread on the subject.

A person would need the frame number to apply for a title. A judge can issue a legal document of ownership if no other way pans out. The judge would need to know what history is known about the vehicle.

Check and see if there are any local model T clubs to Kalispell. They would likely know if someone local is looking. Craigslist or Bring a Trailer may be another way to go that gets a fair amount of following.

Looks like a B-17 I think.

Hey all ~ I’ve just edited my original post from this morning. We’ve determined that the car is actually a 1923 Model T Roadster. I’ve got more pictures of the car now too.

The model Ts manufactured before or very near to 1925 were not stamped with a number on the frame. In this case the engine number will have to be used or a state issued tag may be the way to go.

My Pop was the copilot on that particular B-17G. The photo was taken in 1944 at the Celone airfield near Foggia, Italy.

Very helpful. Thxs! I’ll be at the hangar (where we keep the Model T) on Monday. So I’ll look for the engine # for our paperwork. (& I’ll check the airframe too, just in case ) Thxs!
