Default KR Wilson - What is it??

One of our clubs members found this KR Wilson tool (shown below). The person he got it from told him it was Model A but had no idea what it was used for. One side has a number which is either "S214" or "8214" and "MADE IN USA". The other side says "KR WILSON BUFFALO NY". At our club meeting we tried to think of what it might be used for and came to the conclusion it might be some sort of press for inserting and/or removing bushings or bearings from some part OR a tool for cracking walnuts but other than that we have no clue.

Do any banners know what this is and how it is used?

Brake shoe riveting tool? I think it's missing some stuff though

I was wrong

According to Bruce Lancaster on the HAMB:
"S-214 should be a valve assembly tool, a little press that takes valve, guide, and spring and compresses the spring so you can put on the keeper. It looks about like a wine bottle corker or some sort of patent nut cracker.
I've got the big engine one, and this thing allows you to assemble all 16 valves faster than you can think about it."

Yes as a Krw junkie it is a 60 ho valve assembly tool
Most if the 60 hp tools had the "s" prefix

It's actually for all the Ford flathead V8's with original valves. It will also work on the 49-53 flathead V8 with the modern style valves. The valve/spring assembly is assembled with this tool and inserted into the block and the spring is compressed and a horseshoe retainer installed to hold in place.

To all that responded, thanks. This answers the question and at least we knew it was not for any A parts we could think of.

james,
The V model will do the later ones... the
S 60 HP won't fit the larger guides . If they would have fit KR would have only made the 1 but they had to make two due to the size difference.

I stand corrected. The concept is the same though.
