Default 1946 shift linkage

Are there any tricks or procedures for adjusting the column shift linkage on my 46? I remember years ago working in a column shift linkage where there was a place to slide an eighth inch drill bit to hold the two arms in alignment while adjusting the rods. Is there a similar deal for my 46 ford? Thanks Rich

Bushings are new! I guess I will have to get a friend to line up the arms on the column while I crawl under to adjust the rod ends. Anyone have an easier one person method? Thanks Rich

with shift rods removed set both arms on trans in neutral, the center of three clicks, put shifter in neutral. Adjust rods so they go right in without having to move arms. Easy if bushings and shifter are in good shape, guessing and prayer required if everything is sloppy!
