Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
What is the material you have laid out to drive the car on? Also the piece that looks like it collects the oil pan drips?

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
The material is just some rubber runners you can buy at home dept for like halways and such they come in 4 feet wide as long as you want. I just cut them down the middle 2 foot each 18 feet in lenght. Then I just used another ckunk of the same stuff with out cutting it for the drippings. I should also note Very important not to have you A full of gas when trailering it because all the sloshing and bumping around can make gas come out of the vents of the gas cap then all over your paint....

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Ryan, maybe I missed it, but how long is the trailer?
You mentioned one foot was added to the height. How tall is it inside? I'm considering the purchase of a trailer. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for posting pics. Nice rig. Your car is gorgeous as well. I have a Ford F-150 with a V8 also. I'm hoping it can pull the trailer with my 31' Coupe loaded. Ken near Orlando |

Very nice trailer, and I believe that hauling a Model A, instead of driving them on a freeway, is a much safer idea. Especially those Model A's that are not equipped to drive at the faster speeds. You did a great job finishing the trailer on the inside. |

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Nice looking trailer.
One suggestion, move the spare tire to floor level. The side wall frames on encloseds aren't very stout. Needless to say, a real rough road, and the tire will break loose from the wall. Don't ask how I know this (Big name trailer too). Ken |

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Ryan, you sure have a nice looking outfit. The inside is beatuiful, and so is your car. If everybody is talking about the rain inside, then maybe you could haul it with your car cover on it so the paint could not get tarnished.......
PS. Maybe you should hang your machine gun in there someplace. |

WHAT GREAT IDEA! I like the idea of people being able to see the history on the car.

Good looking and fine decor, being educational. The car is mighty handsome, to boot. The insulation would make sense, if possible to retrofit.
Well done! Dyson |

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Silver or aluminum bubble wrap comes in wide rolls several feet long and is only about 3/8" thick. I used this on the entire inside of my tin shed and it stopped all the dripping, plus it does a good job of insulating. It's easy to install with some kind of spray adhesive, or double sided carpet tape, which is what I used.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Best looking car hauler ive ever seen! You should be proud.Great looking car too! Having said that,if I had to tow my A,s anywhere,I would get rid of them.In 1967,I bought a restored 28 phaeton in Edmonton for $ 1,400,flat-towed it to PrinceGeorge behind a 39 Dodge 3/4 ton, left the truck there & drove the A down to Vancouver & back to PG. Then towed the A to Kitimat BC.Sold that car in 86.

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
Hey BUY IT SMART. The overall Length is 20 feet and the inside height is 7 1/2 feet. You see you have to have enough room to clear the back door when entering and exiting. I do have a dove tail (drop down floor) but when the car is inside I have about 1-2 feet of roof clearence but when you exit or enter you only have about 5 inches of clearence. You see the rear part of the roof on a phaeton is higher that the rest of the car. and for long trips I do cover her inside the trailer. I even went camping one time with the wife. We inflated a air mattres in front of the car and went to sleep. There's nothing better than sleeping with both of your babies at the same time....I said good night babe I love you and she said goodnight babe...I then said I didn't mean you I ment my car....My wife then hit me do you blame her...

Re: My Custom made Model A Trailer
I think it's great, Ryan. We're starting to restore a 30 Deluxe Phaeton and when that's done we have plans to do exactly what you did - have a garage that can double as a means to haul the A when it's too far to drive. NY taxes are high enough to not build a garage anytime soon. Thanks for tips regarding the humidity problems - wouldn't have thought of that until too late.
