Can anyone identify this Early Side Mount Spare Wheel Bracket. What Year and Model is if off? Thanks for your help. |

The side mount arm appears to be 1932. The arm is bent, but should be straight. The hole at the top is for the supporting arm that bolts to the cowl.

This is the Side Mount Spare Wheel Bracket on my 1934 Ford Phaeton. It is straight. |

Thanks nickthebandit for your comment, but looking at this Arm, the bend is a uniform curve, so it does not appear to be bent? These are just my thoughts. |

Re: Early Side Mount Spare Wheel Bracket - What Year?
Something unusual:- Spare Wheel Holder for side mounted spares. When Twin mounted Spares are fitted, you need both a Right Hand and Left Hand Holder - see picture. If you look at the lower picture, you can see that they are both stamped "L", but the slots are angled in opposite directions. I always wondered why the Spare on my 34 Ford did not sit straight, but at a slight angle? Only after I compared it with another 1934 Ford with a side mounted Spare did I notice that the adjustable slot went at a different angle than the one fitted to my car? It was then that I noticed that the Painted Holder was designed for the Right Hand Spare, but somehow, it was inadvertently stamped "L" instead of "R". After locating and fitting a correct one for the Left side, the Spare now sits straight and perfectly aligned with the car. My 1934 Ford came from the Factory with the wrong Holder fitted, and was not detected until I started investigating why the Spare did not sit straight. |
