A little more info would be helpful. Like what year car or truck are you talking about?

My 1947 OE cork float/bobber sunk too but the sending unit was still working. I ordered a Bob Drake replacement kit from Mid West Auto. When I received the kit I noticed that the Bob Drake's plastic float "bobber" snapped right onto my original sender arm. I replaced only the bobber and system worked fine for over a year until the "bobber" sprung a leak. I phoned Drake and they sent me a brass bobber (soldered unit) that also snapped onto the OE sender arm. Been fine ever since. See photo.

As seen in the photo, my OE sender arm has a loop on its end.

I did not use the Bob Drake sender unit and later read on the forum that is a different design sender and (sometimes) doesn't work without modification.

I have replaced two in the recent past. My hardware store fastener section has a couple of trays of cork stoppers. Two of the largest ones epoxied small end to small end worked perfectly on the one I did last year. The arm was set up for the wire end to go endwise into the cork. The other one used a cork from a 'magnum' bottle of champagne. My son owns a wine shop and I had told him to save any big corks. I decided not to epoxy coat them, but I have done that in the past with the vintage briggs and strattons I used to collect.

It is on my 1936 Fords, the wire arm sticks in to the end of the cork float

I don't know who sells them. I would take 2 wine bottle corks
and drill a hole through them. Use gas tank sealer to help
them slid on and hold them. Dip the corks and rod in the sealer.
I did this on some years go and never had a problem. G.M.i

Look in the trash at auto repair garages for replaced in tank fuel pumps, the float and sender are usually part of the assembly, salvage the arm and float,
