21/19 inch wheels converted to 16"
Anyone know when this was started? They cut the spokes down and rewelded them. Any reason to do it? I have several and was just curious as to why.

Besides keeping the look, it was done during WWII when it was easier get 16" tires but not 19" or 21" tires. There is a small market with both A's and rodders. I've sold a couple sets.

These came installed on my '30 Sport Coupe. Not exactly 100% pleased with them. Came with 215/70 R16 tubeless. No problems after 4000 miles. I do keep and eye on the welds though.

The previous owner mentioned that lot of time went into those wheels. Was also told by the p.o. that my wheels were made by someone in California circa 2010's. That is all I know about them. Last edited by AzBob; 01-20-2023 at 03:19 PM. |

I am sure there is a market somewhere but may not be worth shipping. Mine are not anywhere as nice as AZBob's.

Re: 21/19 inch wheels converted to 16"
I managed to get a set of 6 of the modified wheels. Decided to go with 19" Radials & sold the 16's.
