Default Mart's Garage on Tour: Let's visit Phil's 1860s Windmill!

Something a bit different this time.
One of my Hot Rodder mates just happens to own and live in a Windmill.
So lets check out some 1800s High tech!

Wished I'd known how grubby I looked to be in front of a camera...

Here's what £1800 of crane hire gets you. Four minutes of Youtube.

Who doesn't love huge gears? I do! Thanks for bring us along for the tour.

Phil my hat is off to you! Thanks for opening up your home (literally taking the lid off with video evidence) and taking on this elephant of a project.

Phil, the crane video was the perfect complement to Mart's tour!! Guessing there wasn't another way to get the cap on the ground.

BTW, "grubby" is what the Ford Barn is about!!

Oh - 9.6 tons for anyone counting.
Much cheaper to repair it on the ground than in situ.

Great posting Mart. Looks like somebody has a pile of money. I just wish I had been born rich instead of so good looking.

Unfortunately not so Lawson. Pretty much no money whatsoever!

Truth be told it’s a very hand to mouth operation. But it was much cheaper to buy than a proper house…

The rich guys where I live would just point at the old windmill and say how they want it to look when done. Then the architects, engineers, and interior designers bring their entourage onto the scene and begin the process. In the first sweep they remove all the 'unsightly junk' of old gears and piles of (cleverly engineered) 'stuff' lying around. And God forbid when the building inspector makes the scene! I think this guy is a genuine lover of antiquities and like so many of us 'hopeless romantics' he has taken on a project that is daunting but worthwhile. I say Three cheers to Phil for taking it on, and to Mart for sharing his tale.

Absolutely, 3 cheers for Phil to take on a project like that no matter what his finances are. Preserving history for generations to come, thanks for that, and Thanks Mart for the tour
