1925 Model T
Looking to buy a "peddler" truck, has no engine, pedals are there, throttle lever and spark advance are cut under hood, has wood cab and wood covered box ( not original). Has radiator, gas tank, steering column (no wheel), has coils and coil box, fenders, running boards and tool box on board. Has a brass fire extinguisher, five tires and rims, cab only has one entrance on curb side and a spare mounted on driver side of cab. Title is m.i.a. will go to secretary of state before completing purchase. Sheet metal is solid except for one fender. Any thoughts on value of this truck, realize it's tough without pictures, any help appreciated.

Re: 1925 Model T
Since the engine and trans are a unit, how can the engine be missing and the pedals still be there?

Re: 1925 Model T
Pan would still be mounted in the frame, it would hold the front radius rod in place and the hogs head could be installed giving two extra bolts to hold the rear axle up. The block does not have to be installed to mount the hogs head. Leaving the pan in place was done often enough when making the T frame into a trailer.
I am not sure how you are going to get a title without a block, the serial/vin number is on the block unless at some point the rig was re-titled and a new number was assigned and has it stamped someplace else on the rig.

Re: 1925 Model T
Thanks for reply's, yes the pan is still in it. Current owner has a plan to get a title, he just got one for another truck last month, we meet at Secretary of State Monday. Cab has a metal plate on inside of cab just to right of coil box but could not make out what was printed or stamped on it in the storage unit.

Re: 1925 Model T
I don't see anything strange about the question.

Re: 1925 Model T
By the way, this would be a standard car type chassis made between 1921 and 1925 with the added aftermarket or shop built body. This link from the Model T Ford Club of America should help date it;

Re: 1925 Model T
Thanks for info on the earlier/late models, finding these early cars very interesting with the different changes made during production.

Re: 1925 Model T
The hogshead in the truck is rusted thru, would a guy buy this separate from an engine/trans.?

Re: 1925 Model T
The "hogs head" is heavy cast iron & not likely to rust through. You may be seeing the pan rusted through.
You would be best to find a complete engine/transmission unit - hopefully running for this truck. Something very odd is going on under the hood - could you post pictures of the pan which seems to be mounted upside down & held together by C clamps?

Re: 1925 Model T
Optical illusion, the pan looks correct to me.

Re: 1925 Model T
All I see is the pan and no Hog's Head. Maybe I'm missing something.

Re: 1925 Model T
You are correct. If you blow the picture up it makes more sense. The clamp may be holding the inspection cover in place.
The rusted area would be the pan under the missing hogs head.

Re: 1925 Model T
Thanks for info, so that is just the pan, like I said appreciate any info. Will probably take heavy wood box off, when I stood on running board the whole truck tipped. Guy has owned it since 1978 and said he duplicated what was there before. Would like to make it look like a tanker or put open bed with boxes on side. Is it worth putting back together, wants $1,500 ?
