Default Frame welting holes

Anyone know of a drawing or chart that show the number and size of the holes that must be punched in the frame welting? (30 CCPU.)

Or one that would identify the holes in the frame that need the welting holes?

Thank you!

Larry

What I did on the two chassis I put frame welding on was lay the splash aprons on the frame to see where the holes should be and how large the holes should be. I used iron pipe to punch the holes after marking the holes with a magic marker. I used short 2x4's or 2x6's stood on end as the backing for the pipe punch. I sharpened the ends of the pipe on a bench grinder and made 3 sizes for the various holes. I should note, my cars were 28's and 29's, so I can't help much on your 30 pickup as far as holes used.

Well your wrong a bit there
If there's a hole in the top of the frame, something goes thru it. Even if a small bolt like for splash aprons or hood latches....something goes there!
Trust me, cut the hole....better an extra hole than to start mounting and have to cut it out!
The question is size and that can be determined by the frame hole.

That's solid advice and you wouldn't see it anyways...

I have done several and the way I do it is get a large nail and a pair of vise grips. Hold the nail in the vise grips and heat it with a torch until red. I had already located the holes in the frame so all I had to do was insert the nail in the hole and wallow it around until the hole was the same size as the hole in the frame. Do this in a well ventilated area. It worked for me and the holes were perfect.

I found it easy to use a ballpeen hammer. Place the welting on the frame. Locate the hole in the frame. Using the round end of the hammer, tap around the edge of the hole. The hole will be cut out of the welting. Bill
