Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
In the process of selling my pickup and it’s tentatively going to Germany. Buyer is also buying a flathead and plan was to ship it in the back of the 32. From the builder, 600 lbs +/- a couple pounds with crate. Haven’t found anything on the weight carrying capacity of the old girl. She does have new reverse eye springs, and 750-16’s on the rear. Just don’t want to overload. Thanks

Re: Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
I have brought home over 600 pounds of concrete on the running boards of my model A
it is stock, with yours it would depend on the modifications, should be able to handle it, how far is it being driven? |

Re: Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
I've had 5-600 lbs in the back of my deuce pickup several times since I got it. Mine has a New Posie 40 rear spring. No problems. I would be worried that the weight in the back for the duration of the trip might cause the spring to take a set and not rebound when the weight is removed?

Jack the frame up a bit leaving the rear end hang down, then custom cut a block of wood to fit in the center between the U bolts so it can't move, let the jack down, ship it.

Re: Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
This engine rode around in the back of my 32 pickup for a whole summer so I would not be worried

I agree with uncle buck. I would probably make a custom fit wood cradle and screw it down to the bed and ship it.

Re: Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
You are loading it 100# more in the bed but it will not have the 200# driver so you're good to go.

Re: Weight carrying capacity in a 32 pickup
On exhaust mount engine stand, strapped down. Avoided speed bumps and made it home. The rear end under that '34 is from a '71 pickup, and the shackle bushings did not survive. Plastic crap came with the rear end kit.
