I knew a guy that made the same swap,years ago.He said it bolted right in.You'll need the car pan,timing cover,motor mounts,etc. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 292 into a 53 customline
The 53 and the 54 uses the same frame should be no problem as long as you have all the mounts for the Y block. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 292 into a 53 customline
I have heard that I would need to change the oil pan and pump over to the car version since this version is from a 61 f600. If the car was a 54 with the 8 cylinder...would the 292 bolt in or would I still have to change the engine mounts. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 292 into a 53 customline
Since your 53 is a 6 cyl. car it should have the crossmember to accept y block mounts nothing could be easier.Car mounts will bolt to your truck engine.54-58or9 mts. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

I put a 64 292 into my 54 Vicky--not a problem, and your frame is the same on the 53 <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 292 into a 53 customline
Nope, 54 frame is totally different from 52-53. he y-block can be put into them, but will have to have fabricated motor mounts. If I remember correctly, the easiest way is to use the flat oil pan from a truck, and also the truck front motor mounts from something like a 57-60 half ton. Good luck, and good for you for keeping it FORD! <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |
