Default Ford Padlock

I'm certain most everyone is familiar with the Ford brass padlocks from swap meets and auctions.

My question is; in what era were these produced?

I just bought one exactly like that for my tool box I mounted on the front of the coupe. Paid $40 on flea-bay.

I suppose Ford expected owners of 28-29 Model As would buy their own brand X lock for their spare wheel lug nut.

They were also used on the rear mount spares on the 80's Broncos. My son gave me his lock when he got rid of the 84 Bronco he had........Clyde

Wink Re: Ford Padlock

Years ago on greedBay I won a couple of all brass (including the shackels)
Corbin padlocks. On the reverse of the lock bodys near the top are small
indented Ford scripts. On the locks bottom I can just make out '07 and '09 patent dates. Most likely the locks are newer then that, but they
both came with keys, one of them being an original Corbin. Henry probably had thousands of them made for all his different interprises.

Did the lock on the back of the Model AA Mail Truck (securing the rear doors) have a Ford script on it?

Fordially,

Ford didn't supply the postal truck bodies. They came from a few different contractors. The postal garages mounted the bodies to the ford supplied chassis, inturn they used Post Office Department locks.
