Thanks, I thought that it was all those years. I guess that's how bad info gets dispersed. One guy says it and then it gets repeated.

The Rochester 2GC fit's quite nice and if the Merc intake is bored to match the carb It will improve flow.

There are some variations in appearance that do not affect hotrod uses...extra holes for a choke stove, some other holes that may involve automatic trans stuff (?) on some post 1950.
If you want slightly snazzier appearance at least a couple of versions were made in aluminum for Canadian Mercs.

Old thread, but what do you do about the distributor if you want to stay with 6v? As far as the vacuum goes? Im talking if you go with a 2g....

Change to a later Chevy "window" point distributor conversion!

Can I run the loadomatic with the vacuum hooked up the same as it is with the original holley carb?

Here you go. 265" 8BA with L-100. The stock Merc manifold is ported to match the carb. Carb is on backwards but it doesn't know that. Slight modification to match the carb linkage. Chevy distrbutor, Chevy alternator, Chevy Carb, Chevy valves.........
This pic was setting in my 41 but the engine is now in my 35 coupe.

The distributor doesn't care about 6 or 12 volt.

Unshined2 - "Can I run the loadomatic with the vacuum hooked up the same as it is with the original Holley carb?" NO! The load-a-matic requires a specific vacuum signature for proper operation. The vacuum is drawn above the Holley's throttle plates and is not manifold vacuum. Get a modified Ch--- distributor and prepare to smile a lot.

Put a Rochester on my 53, ran great, did turn it around, for the linkage to work.
