Aaaaaah .....
Detoured on my trip from Tucson to Dallas to stop in Tombstone, AZ Been here a few times, never had the time to take a tour of The Bird Cage Theatre Found a relatively cheap place to stay within walking distance after taking the self guided day tour (which was very cool) Saw The Black Moriah Hearse .... Signed up for the night tour tonight, so far just me and an older couple (Its' her birthday) She has EVP recording equipment ... This is gonna be fun ... Jim |

Re: Taking Bird Cage Theatre night tour tonight ...
I was in Tombstone in 1973 Saw the OK corral and a few other "touristy" spots . At that time we didn't know about the Birdcage. I think Ghosthunters has really popularized it. It's too bad that everyone of their locations now is giving "ghost tours" for profit. Haviong had a few experiences my self, I'm also interested in the paranormal and those who will do an honest investigation of it.

Re: Taking Bird Cage Theatre night tour tonight ...
Christoph, I don't know how the Germans feel about it, but America is going Ghost happy for the last few years. There are several show on TV about it, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, The Haunted Collector, A Haunting, Paranormal Witness. Just to name some of them. Some are more"Scientific" than others. They generally use equipment that registers a magnetic field. Supposedly, Ghosts/spirits are manifesting magnetic energy that is detectable. The problem is that they mostly go to abandoned mental hospitals, prisons etc. The Next thing you know, Someone is running a "Ghost tour" and charging admisson. In one case, An abandoned Mental hospital, here in Pennsylvania, was involved in a court dispute. While reading the article in the news paper, it was disclosed that they had made a lot of money off ghost tours. It had been investigated by two of the shows. What a letdown!

Here's how the night went ...
I showed up a little before 8 p.m. at the Theatre.
Our guide had been there about a year. We spent about 2 hours touring everywhere. We ended up behind the stage at a table. The lights went out for about half an hour while attempts were made to get a response from the non-living. What struck me was the absence of pretty much any sounds which I thought was odd given the building was about 120 plus years old. I did hear barely discernable voices when I put my fat head as far as it would go in the door of the first crib in the basement, a lot of voices at the same level talking in a hushed tone. Later, about 2:30 a.m. I walked the town for about an hour and a half under a nearly full moon - the only time I noticed anything unusual is when I walked past the old elementary school both times. Just about every body hair except for my head stood on end. The School is right across the street from The Traveler's Inn where I stayed which was less than $50 for a single and really very nice .... In my travels, I run across places where the people are so interesting - Tombstone is such a place. Jim |
