Default fuel pump stand/oil filler breather tube

I am looking for some clarification, I have a late 47 ford and was told that on some models that the stand did not come with the 1/4" tube attached to the bottom of the stand in which the fuel pump push rod runs thru?

I removed my stand and there was no tube attached, and all the ones I see have a tube?

I know that the push rod rides on the cam and goes up thru the baffle in the block and in most cases runs thru the 1/4" tube attached to the stand up to the fuel pump arm. But did they do away with it in later years?

They all have the tube in them. Its also an odd ball size.If you can find a good fitting piece of thin walled pipe you can cut a piece and JB weld one in there. done many over the yrs. ken ct.

Ken,
This brings up a couple questions as I am planning on replacing my stock manifold with a dual carb manifold. I know the mounting pad for the fuel pump is 1 inch lower on the alum. dual manifold. I have the appropriate length push rod. I will also shorten the smaller dia. tube mentioned above.

My question is what about the larger dia. tube with the baffles that nests under the pump stand? What is it's purpose? Can it be left out or do I need to shorten it as well? And for that matter what is the purpose of the smaller dia. tube?

The baffles are there to prevent oil from being thrown up in to the breather cap.
