I am not that much up on 40's, but I don't think I have ever seen a Ford fan with rubber. All steel riveted together.

you probably have a 59AB 42-48 fan setup as they had rubber sandwiched on the hub and blade,40-41 fans mounted to the crank pulley, i believe macs or other venders sell them rubbers,i would highly recommend you repair it asap..m2cents

39-40-41 does have rubber. I also suggest replacing the fan.
